Summary
Some news on how developments are affecting the version of protocol specification.
A number of large projects are currently underway with vendors and users within the Lucid community. The developers on these teams are raising issues with the protocol specification and these are jointly being dealt with. While that happens the protocol specification is advancing at a pace. The changes generally clarify things or remove ambiguities, but in some cases may cause small changes to the protocol. Rather than keep updating and publishing the protocol specification, we have decided to work through the changes on the specification in GitHub without reissing as the next version.
Version 3 therefore remains the currently released standard but an interim version is being jointly used by the current development teams and protocol management team. As these projects draw to a close, in around Autumn 2026, we expect to release the new version of the protocol specification at Version 4.
In the interim, should you require access to the most up to date version, please see the latest version of the specification in GitHub.
